Day 1: Fly from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza in the far West of Tanzania, and transfer by road in time for a late afternoon bird walk near the shores of Lake Victoria or a mountain bike ride away from the water. Overnight at Speke Bay Lodge (D).
Day 2: Take a morning boat safari around the bay, enjoying the profusion of birdlife, and looking for crocodiles and hippos. Alternatively, take a canoe to the local village for a fascinating look at life on the lake. After lunch at the lodge, move into the Serengeti, exploring the wildlife rich areas of the western corridor and particularly along the Grumeti River. The game viewing here is always excellent and there is a great chance of finding lions, leopards and cheetah as well as a wonderful array of grazers out on the plains. Overnight in The Bush Rover, your private camp in central-West Serengeti (B,L,D) .
Day 3: Once again you will explore the Serengeti to marvel at the greatest safari spectacle in the world. Tanzania is blessed with an incredible array of safari experiences, but the Serengeti, with its magnificent migrating herds, and huge population of predators, is unbeatable. Overnight in The Bush Rover. (B,L,D).
Day 4: After breakfast, head out again across the Serengeti, this time exploring the central areas of Seronera and crossing through the South Western gate at Naabi and on to Oldupai camp which is near to the famous cradle of mankind. You will arrive in time for dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 5: This morning, there will be the chance to explore the area on foot and in the company of a Masai who runs this wonderfully atmospheric operation. You may visit the Oldupai gorge, famous for its fossil remains of some of the earliest hominids. After lunch, drive through the beautiful landscape of the Ngorongoro conservation area stopping at the famous crater rim to marvel at the spectacle below. Dinner and overnight at Endoro lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 6: After breakfast drive past Mt Meru, Arusha town and on to West Kilimanjaro. This is a stunning area on the flanks of the great mountain with its own very unique atmosphere. Kambi Ya Tembo lodge. (B,L,D).
Day 7: Depart the lodge early to enjoy the wildlife with the dramatic backdrop of Kilimanjaro. Overnight at Kambi Ya Tembo (B,L,D)
Day 8: After breakfast, drive to Kilimanjaro airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Transfer to Stone Town and overnight at Seyidda hotel (B).
Day 9: Explore UNESCO World Heritage site of Stone Town alone or take an organised optional tour looking at the history of the town or the spice plantations on the island. Overnight at Seyidda hotel (B).
Day 10: Fly to the beautiful and unique Saadani National Park, the only coastal wildlife reserve in the whole of East Africa. Stay at the Simply Saadani Camp, your home for the next few days. (B,L,D)
Days 11, 12 & 13: Enjoy two days at Simply Saadani Camp, where you can either relax at the lodge, take a long walk along the white sand deserted beach, take one of four colour-coded nature walks, attend a talk on elephant conservation at the dedicated wildlife research centre at the camp or take a local canoe ride on the lodge’s very own creek which is fantastic for birdlife. Alternatively, head out into the park on safari, either by car, foot or boat on the Wami river (optional – extra cost). You can visit the wonderful Roof of Saadani, a 20 metre high viewing tower with 360 degree views of Indian Ocean and wild bush located in the heart of the best animal activity in the park. You can also overnight in The Roof (supplemental cost). You also have the option to take a walk up to the local fishing village of Mkwaja or visit the green turtle breeding beach in the next door Madete Marine Park (optional –extra cost). (B,L,D)
