Safari & Activities
Sable Mountain is nestled on a hill at the edge of the Nyerere National Park reserve, offering stunning views. This intimate lodge consists of just 12 accommodations — eight stone cottages and four tented rooms — all with beautiful vistas.
The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, featuring cozy beds with soft linens and warm blankets to keep you snug during chilly nights. Large windows and mesh panels allow you to take in the stunning views while also letting in plenty of natural light and fresh air.
Each room is equipped with an en suite bathroom, complete with a hot water shower or bath, flushing toilet, and a sink with fresh running water.
Sable Mountain Lodge is committed to sustainability, running entirely on solar power. With only twelve rooms, you can expect a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Enjoy thrilling game drives in our custom Land Rovers, explore the wilderness on foot, or cruise across a vibrant lake teeming with hippos and crocodiles. Unlike the popular Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, Nyerere offers a diverse safari experience with walking and boating safaris.
Our expert guides can arrange any safari directly from the camp, whether you've booked a game package or just full board. Immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of Nyerere, where you can spend entire days on safari without encountering another visitor.
Experience a unique boat safari on the stunning Lake Tagalala. Unlike the riverine safaris in Saadani National Park, our boat adventures offer a different perspective on Nyerere’s wildlife.
Witness the incredible spectacle of hippos and crocodiles up close, as well as a variety of animals gathering at the water's edge to drink.
Guests staying at Sable Mountain Lodge can combine a boat safari with a full-day wildlife adventure.
Embark on a foot safari straight from the lodge at dawn. Our journey leads to the secluded camp treehouse and waterhole, where we settle in with coffee or tea and morning treats. As the day breaks, watch the sunrise paint the sky while surrounded by nature’s tranquility.
Return to camp through the enchanting forest, encountering its lush undergrowth. Keep a watchful eye, as elephants, monkeys, bush pigs, and various antelope are frequent visitors to the waterhole.
We began taking a few
guests to meet Saita and his family in his nearby Maasai boma. We met Saita
over 20 years ago when building the camp and he was a young Maasai warrior.
Today he is the chief of his Maasai village. Saita and his wife like to welcome
our guests to their boma teaching them about medicinal plants still used by the
tribe and also about the value of cattle and so much more about their way of
life.
This is a non-commercial
experience that Saita likes to do for our guests as a long time friend of Tent
with a View and Sable.
